The Value of Ground Investigation
In this recorded Institution of Civil Engineers presentation, Wilgeo Director Phil Wilson discusses the value of undertaking a suitable ground investigation before construction begins. He considers how early investment in site investigation can identify geotechnical risks, inform foundation design and reduce the likelihood of unexpected construction costs.
The presentation revisits TRL Report PR60, published in 1994, which examined Department of Transport highway project costs and their relationship with site investigation. Phil also considers whether changes in contracts, procurement and construction practice mean that an updated ICE review of site investigation practice is now required.
